Getting Marilyn Monroe's Consent And Blessing

In a recent interview with AnOther magazine for the issue's cover story, the No Time to Die star disclosed that she visited Marilyn's grave to request her consent to create the film Blonde.

"We got this big card and everyone in the crew wrote a message to her. Then we went to the cemetery and put it on her grave," she said.

She added, "We were asking for permission in a way. Everyone felt a huge responsibility, and we were very aware of the side of the story we were going to tell — the story of Norma Jeane, the person behind this character, Marilyn Monroe. Who was she really?"

Ana Sensed She Was With Them

Playing Marilyn’s role was not casual for Ana. On September 8, 2022, the 79th Venice International Film Festival hosted the world premiere of the movie Blonde. The film garnered an 11-minute standing ovation.

Ana, who stunned in a plunging press for the Blonde premiere, talked about Marilyn at the Venice Film Festival. She admitted to sensing the late actress' presence on the film's set.

"I truly believe that she was very close to us, she was with us… She was all I thought about, she was all I dreamed about, she was all I could talk about. She was with me and it was beautiful."

Ana Felt Marilyn's Emotions

The 34-year-old did not only sense the presence of the "blonde bombshell" character, but she also shared her emotions.

“I think she was happy. She would also throw things off the wall sometimes and get mad if she didn’t like something. Maybe this sounds very mystical, but it is true. We all felt it,” she said.
